Molex has introduced its External Laser Source Interconnect System (ELSIS), a complete system of cage, optical and electrical connectors with a pluggable module that uses proven technology to speed development of hyperscale data centers. 

ELSIS is for next-generation, co-packaged optics (CPO) requiring external lasers. The solution solves challenges related to safety, thermal management and field replacements/upgrades. Samples of the fully pluggable module are available, letting engineers begin development and testing in advance of CPO gaining widespread adoption, as are design and development materials.
