Omnitron Systems, a leading provider of Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and fiber network products, announced the launch of a new ultra-compact PoE Injector called the OmniConverter® GPoE+/I.

The OmniConverter GPoE+/I are unmanaged gigabit Ethernet power injectors that extend link distances up to 200 meters and add Power-over-Ethernet over the UTP data cables, allowing for connections to remote PoE-powered devices such as Wi-Fi Access Points and IP Surveillance Cameras.

The OmniConverter GPoE+/I injectors feature one RJ-45 uplink port, and one RJ-45 downlink IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ port. Both ports support 10/100/1000 Mbps data rates and can operate at asymmetrical rates.

OmniConverter PoE Injectors are plug-and-play devices that support auto-negotiation of data rates and duplex modes for simple in-line installation to instantly extend network distances. This facilitates the installation and troubleshooting by ensuring each link is operational.

The GPoE+/I injector automatically negotiates and delivers the power level required by a powered device partner. When a non-PoE device, such as a laptop, is connected to the PoE Injector for data only applications, no power is applied.

The OmniConverter PoE Injectors can be mounted to a wall or DIN-rail with an optional mounting clip.  They can be powered with an external 100 to 240 VAC power adapter or with a 2-pin DC terminal connector.

“In deployments with space and real estate constraints, especially in outdoor installations with extreme temperature conditions, Omnitron’s ultra-compact injector will be an ideal product,” said Sankar Ramachandran, director of product management. He also added “the injector withstands up to +/-2 kV surge, saving cost on any additional surge protection hardware.  Unlike midspan devices, Omnitron’s new PoE+ injector extends connectivity up to 200 meters.”  

OmniConverter PoE injectors are available in Commercial (0° to 50°C), Wide (-40° to 60°C), and Extended (-40° to 75°C) operating temperature range models.
